Why PowerUps Matter

Traditionally, reps visit company websites one by one to identify buying signals, understand what the company does, and determine ICP fit. PowerUps automate this through custom AI prompts that scan company websites and populate custom Apollo.io fields.
Real-World Example - Propelr Payments
We used PowerUps for a payment processor client targeting SaaS companies. The challenge: distinguishing between companies that use payment tools internally versus companies that offer embedded payment services to their own customers. These are very different buyers with different needs.
How We Set It Up
Step 1 - Custom Prompt Creation
We built a ChatGPT-style prompt that analyzes company websites and answers a specific question: “Does this company provide billing or subscription payment services to its customers?” The output is categorized as Yes, No, or Uncertain.
Step 2 - PowerUp Execution
We applied the prompt across test accounts. Apollo.io’s AI visited each company’s website, analyzed the content, and populated a custom field with the result.
Step 3 - List Prioritization
With the custom field populated, we filtered the account list to show only companies categorized as “Yes” - instantly creating a targeted prospect list that would have taken hours to build manually.
