Hiring Signals: Reach Companies While They Staff Up

Hiring signals tell B2B sales teams which companies have budget and a problem right now. When a company posts a role your product supports, we find it with Apollo.io's job posting filters and reach the people who own that hire, by email and LinkedIn.

How It Works

How We Turn Hiring Signals Into Conversations

01

Map roles to your offer

We list the job titles that mean a company needs what you sell, and the ones that look close but mean nothing. Most hiring signal setups skip this step and drown in noise.

02

Build the job postings search

We build the search in your Apollo.io with the Job postings filter, layered on your ICP filters. New matches move into a queue list every week, capped to what your team and your senders can handle.

03

Reach the people who own the hire

The leader each role reports to gets an Apollo.io sequence and a LinkedIn connection request from your managed workspace, powered by HeyReach. Automated or reviewed first, set per client.

Why Hiring Matters

Why Hiring Signals Mean Budget and Pain

A job posting is a budget decision made in public. Someone approved headcount, so money is moving toward that team. The posting also names the pain. A company that cannot keep up hires for it. A company that just lost a key person backfills the seat.

Postings arrive early, too. The role goes up before the new hire starts and before that person picks their tools. If you sell to the team being built, your window is the weeks between the posting and the first day.

That is why job postings work as buying signals for B2B sales, as long as the role matches what you sell. A posting for the wrong role is just noise with a logo on it.

What a posting tells you

  • Budget is approved for that team
  • The problem has an owner and a deadline
  • Which tools the team runs or plans to run
  • Where the company is expanding
  • How long they have struggled to fill the seat

Job Posting Signals by Role: What Each One Means

Titles matter more than volume. These are the patterns we map most often for B2B sales teams:

  • SDRs, BDRs or a first sales hire: the company is building outbound. Sales data, sequencing, coaching and outbound agencies all fit.
  • RevOps or Sales Operations: the stack is growing or messy. CRM cleanup, integrations and tool consolidation.
  • A first marketer or demand generation lead: marketing is starting from zero. Agencies, analytics and marketing automation.
  • Security, compliance or IT roles: an audit or security project is coming. Security tools, compliance software and managed IT.
  • Data engineers or analysts: they are building a warehouse or a reporting layer. Data tools and consultancies.
  • Customer success or support roles in volume: customers are growing faster than the team. Support software and onboarding tools.
  • Several roles in a new country: they are expanding. Payroll, hiring, legal and local partners.
  • The same role open for 60 days or more: they cannot fill it. Recruiting help, outsourcing, or software that removes the need for the hire.
Inside Apollo.io

The Apollo.io Job Posting Filter, Set Up for Outbound

Apollo.io's company search has a Job postings filter for companies currently hiring. You can search by job title, by where the job is located, and by how long ago the role was first posted. Combined with your industry, size and location filters, it returns companies that fit your ICP and are hiring for the role you care about.

A saved search on its own only sends email alerts. We turn it into outbound: new matches move into a queue list in your Apollo.io each week, we find the leader each role reports to, and the queue feeds an Apollo.io sequence and a LinkedIn campaign. Our sub-industry list building tutorial shows how we layer the filters.

Apollo.io also reads the tools named in job postings into its technology data, so a posting for a Salesforce admin tells you about the stack as well as the headcount. Pair it with Apollo.io intent signals and you know who is hiring and what they are researching.

Who gets the outreach

  • The leader the new role reports to
  • The executive who owns the budget for that team
  • At smaller companies, the founder

Hiring Signals for Sales Without a Clay Table to Maintain

Plenty of teams build hiring signals in Clay: scrape job boards, enrich, push to a sequencer. It works until someone has to maintain it. In Apollo.io, the job posting data, the contacts and the sequences sit in one place, and the weekly queue is code we write with Claude, not a table only Clay can run. See Clay vs Apollo.io + Claude, job by job.

When a client needs more job data than Apollo.io holds, such as full posting text or wider job board coverage, we sync TheirStack job postings into Apollo.io lists. Same queue, same follow-up.

Hiring Signals FAQ

What are hiring signals? +

Hiring signals are job postings that tell you a company is investing in a team or a problem. For B2B sales, they show who has budget, which team owns it, and roughly when they will buy, because the new hire usually needs tools in their first months.

Are job postings good buying signals? +

Yes, when the role matches what you sell. In the 2026 State of B2B GTM Report, 31% of companies selling $5k to $50k deals act on hiring activity and 24% above $50k, against 11% under $5k ACV. Hiring matters most once deals pass $5k.

Does Apollo.io have a job posting filter? +

Yes. Apollo.io's company search includes a Job postings filter for companies currently hiring, with options for job title, job location and posting date. You can combine it with every other company filter and save the search.

How do I find companies hiring in Apollo.io? +

Open company search, add the Job postings filter, type the job titles you care about, then narrow by job location and posting date. Add your usual industry and size filters, save the search, and set an alert. We go one step further and turn the matches into a weekly outbound queue.

Who should I contact at a company that is hiring? +

The leader the new role reports to, and the executive who owns that budget. The person being hired has not started yet, and when they do, they will be busy learning the job. At smaller companies, contact the founder.

Can I build hiring signals in Clay instead? +

You can, and many teams do. It means a table of job board data, enrichment steps and a push to your sequencer that someone has to keep running, with Clay Actions spent on every enrichment and every push. Apollo.io has the same signal next to the contacts and sequences that act on it.

Are hiring signal follow-ups automated or reviewed? +

Either, chosen per client. High-volume roles usually run automatically into the queue. Narrow, high-value roles, like a first VP of Sales, often go to a review task so someone checks the company before anything sends.
