How to Set Up Apollo.io Website Visitor ID - Part 2: Adding Workflows with Sequences
Building on Part 1
Part 1 covered setting up Apollo.io’s Website Visitor ID tracking script. Now it is time to convert those anonymous site visitors into actionable sales opportunities through automated workflows.
Step 1: Review Visitor Data in Apollo.io
After running the Website Visitor ID script for several days, you will start seeing companies that visited your site appear in Apollo.io. In our example, 140 companies were detected in a short timeframe, with detailed metrics including visitor counts, unique user numbers, and page viewing patterns.
Step 2: Focus on High-Intent Pages
Rather than contacting every visitor, filter for those who accessed specific pages that signal strong purchase intent. In our case, narrowing focus to accounts that visited the “Apollo.io Setup, Pricing, and Strategy” page reduced the target list from 140 companies down to just 16.
This is where the conditional logic from Part 1 pays off - you already defined which pages matter most.
Step 3: Manual Outreach (Optional)
You can manually select companies from the visitor list, identify relevant contacts using persona filters, and enroll prospects into targeted sequences. However, this approach requires consistent daily attention and does not scale well.
Step 4: Automate with Apollo.io Plays
Automation eliminates the manual effort entirely. Set up two coordinated Plays:
Play 1 - Capture Accounts:
- Trigger detects companies visiting high-intent pages
- Adds them to a designated account list automatically
Play 2 - Enroll Contacts:
- Triggers when new accounts enter the list from Play 1
- Identifies target personas at those accounts
- Enrolls matching contacts into personalized sequences
This automation runs continuously with no manual intervention required.
Step 5: Targeted Sequences for Visitors
Your sequences should be tailored to visitor behavior. Instead of generic cold outreach, acknowledge their demonstrated interest and offer relevant assistance. Someone who visited your pricing page gets a different message than someone who read a blog post.
Why This Approach Works
Combining Website Visitor ID, automation Plays, and Sequences accomplishes several things at once:
- Transforms anonymous traffic into qualified leads
- Prioritizes accounts that are showing clear purchase signals
- Removes manual process requirements from the workflow
- Generates higher reply rates through behavioral personalization
Putting It All Together
The full system works like this: a prospect visits your website, Apollo.io identifies their company, a Play captures the account, a second Play finds the right contacts, and a sequence delivers personalized outreach - all without you lifting a finger.
This turns your website traffic into a predictable outbound pipeline.
